WHAT WE KNOW SO FAR
WHO CAN APPLY?
Anyone 18+ years old in Northern Ireland will be eligible to apply for the scheme, which will provide a pre-paid card worth £100 to be spent in “bricks & mortar” businesses. Around 1.4 million people are expected to be eligible.
WHEN CAN I APPLY?
The scheme opens on September 27th 2021 with first applicants receiving the card in the week beginning October 4th 2021. It is expected people will receive the pre-paid card between 7-10 of applying.
HOW DO I APPLY?
Register online at the NI Direct Website. You will be asked for Name, Address, Date of Birth, Gender, Disability, National Insurance Number, Driving Licence Number (optional), mobile number and email.
APPLY OFFLINE
For those unable to apply online, a telephone service is available from October 11th until the 25th October. Applicants will give the same personal information to an agent who will then make the application on their behalf.
WILL IT BE BUSY?
While it’s hard to accurately predict, department officials stress the importance of getting in early. The portal will be open for four weeks and then applicants will have at least fours weeks to spend the money with local businesses.
WHAT HAPPENS AFTER I APPLY?
Once registered online the applicant will receive an email for confirmation. Information will be checked against the Electoral Register Database and also against the Driver Vehicle Licencing Agency Database.
